Pine Lake Park is a tranquil little neighborhood in the center of the Lake Merced district. The majority of houses here are detached, single-family properties built from the 1920s through the 1950s. Many sit on moderately sized lots with manicured lawns, and some like those along Crestlake Drive, border beautiful Stern Grove or one of the nearby golf courses. Architectural styles range from the classically styled homes in the eastern side of the neighborhood to the ranch-style houses found on the western end.
Because Pine Lake Park offers an abundance of outdoor spaces, including the 33 miles of lush greenery that composes Sigmund Stern Recreation Grove, the area attracts nature lovers, families, and athletic types. Other great recreation spots include Pine Lake Park, an ideal site for bird watching, hiking, and dog walking; the Charlie Sava Pool, which offers recreational swim and aquatic lessons; and Lake Merced Park, a 614-acre area that’s perfect for fishing, boating, jogging, and biking—not to mention golfing at one of the three world-renowned courses within its parameters. For shopping and dining, residents can head to urban shopping mall Stonestown Galleria or nearby neighborhood shopping center Lakeshore Plaza. © 2016 Maryann LoRusso
