The North of Panhandle area, or NOPA, is a hip, centrally located neighborhood just north of Golden Gate Park’s Panhandle and adjacent to the Divisadero corridor. The area boasts many beautifully restored Victorian and Edwardian single-family homes, with properties near the Panhandle exceptionally desirable. The neighborhood has a low-key, peaceful vibe, offering several premium spots for residents to relax and enjoy the outdoors. The Panhandle itself is a great spot to bike, shoot hoops, listen to music by the bandstand, or bring children to enjoy the playground.
Along Divisadero Street, a weekend farmers market and community events such as art walks and block parties bring neighbors together regularly. Further afoot, Golden Gate Park, Alamo Square Park and several area playgrounds provide additional outdoor recreation and family-friendly amenities. For shopping and dining, Divisadero Street is the place to go for hip restaurants and bars, stylish boutiques, gourmet grocery stores and coffee shops. Also nearby is the Lucky shopping center on Fulton Street, as well as the shops along Haight Street. Commuters appreciate the easy freeway access via Fell and Oak Streets, the several MUNI lines that service the neighborhood, as well as the convenient bicycle routes. ©2016 Maryann LoRusso
