Miraloma Park is a family friendly neighborhood known for its stunning vistas and wide variety of architectural styles. Perched along the eastern face of Mount Davidson, the area is marked by the wooded hill with the giant white cross peeking out from the top. Mount Davidson, the highest hill in the city offers an abundance of trails and “secret” views. Owned during the late 1800s by Adolph Sutro, the land became a park in 1929, and most of its homes were built by World War II. Miraloma Park’s proximity to Glen Canyon makes it an ideal destination for outdoor lovers who enjoy a good hike or run, and several neighborhood parks and playgrounds provide great recreation for families.
For basic needs, residents head to the charming shopping strip on Portola Avenue, which is lined with upscale grocery stores, friendly coffee shops, and other amenities. For great food and nightlife, the nearby commercial districts in Glen Park and West Portal are overflowing with hip restaurants and coffee shops, retail stores, fashion boutiques, day spas, and other amenities. For those seeking community, the Miraloma Park Improvement Club hosts a holiday bazaar and other fun events at the neighborhood clubhouse, which was built around 1940. ©2016 Maryann LoRusso
