About Michael Nguyen

DESCRIBE YOUR JOURNEY TO REAL ESTATE.

Passive income! That’s how I began my passion for real estate. I knew the key to financial freedom was to invest in rental properties. I really enjoyed the house hunting aspect of it and can spend a whole day looking at them. I remember my first house, it was a long process and there were a lot I did not understand. However, when everything finally closed and I got the keys to the house, it was the most exhilarating feelings I have ever felt. I thought owning your first car was amazing, this just took it to another level. I never thought I could achieve something like this, the accomplishment was overwhelming. It was the “American Dream” people talked about. Once I got my first house the next four were like buying another pair of shoes…easy-peasy.

When I first got my license it was just for self knowledge because I wanted to understand the legality of real estate. Basically, I was afraid of getting ripped off! Once I have gone through a few properties my confidence grew with my experience. And it will be the same for you. So I do understand the uncertainty and reluctant for a first time home buyer when starting out. For most people it is the biggest investment of their life time. The first step is always hard and challenging, but if you trust me and take that leap, you’ll be a savvy investor in no time. I believe my personal experience and past mistakes will be your gain. That’s why I am here to help. Sales will come and go, but building relationship is long lasting.

WHAT ARE THREE WORDS YOUR CLIENTS WOULD USE TO DESCRIBE YOU?

Helpful, Observant and Resourceful.

WHAT MOST EXCITES YOU ABOUT YOUR WORK?

The personal fulfillment of helping families own their home. I also enjoy being able to do my own work schedule and the flexibility to travel. It’s like running my own business. As a real estate agent, I get to put my interpersonal skills to work all the time. Sometimes it happens in the office, at networking events or just over lunch and coffee. I do admit, it can be challenging and takes discipline because no one telling you to clock in; however, when you surround yourself with a good team, work can be exciting. And as I said earlier, relationship is key. It’s all about the people in the end and every day presents an opportunity to meet someone new.

WHERE CAN WE FIND YOU WHEN YOU'RE NOT WORKING?

I am a single dad so I have my son every other weekend. We go bike riding, basketball and play catch. I try to stay active because health obviously is important. I take a boxing class because you can get a whole body work out. Plus taking your stress out on the bags is fun and the bags don’t hit back.

IF YOU COULD BE ANY ANIMAL, WHAT WOULD IT BE AND WHY?

I like dolphins for their playful nature. And they are one of the most intelligent creatures in the sea as well as on land I suppose.

What Bay Area city would you like to live in and why?

That’s hard to say nowadays. The City is changing; I guess it’s all in perspective. San Francisco is obviously the best in the bay because of the diversity, innovative thinkers and great foods. Let’s not forget the rolling hills with all the views, the architectures, the water and mountains surrounding us. There’s a reason why people all around the world come to visit and also the reason why the cost of living is so high because people don’t leave. I am lucky to be among the few who grew up in San Francisco. However, I do also have a place in my heart for the East Bay as well…the secret, more sunshine. With that said, no matter where I live, I still want to be close to San Francisco. I guess my point is San Francisco will always be close to my heart.

What would you say to a 5-year-old child if he or she asked you what the purpose of life is?

Live the life you want and leave a little behind for someone else.

ANYTHING ELSE YOU'D LIKE TO TELL PEOPLE ABOUT YOURSELF?

I laugh when I can and I don’t take things too seriously unless it requires certain attention. Patience, control and deliberateness characterize my usual behavior. I am considerate, compassionate and accepting of others; relationships with others are warm, personal and lasting. I have an intense passion for learning new things and always searching for opportunities to advance my knowledge. I have difficulty putting down a good book. I am a bit of an introvert so I think a lot. Lastly, I strive for efficiency and practicality in all areas of my life; a high sense of satisfaction is gained by earning and sharing my wealth.
