A vibrant yet laid-back community, the Inner Richmond is nestled between two of the city’s most treasured outdoor oases, making it the perfect residence for outdoorsy urban types. Bordering the neighborhood on the south is Golden Gate Park, home to many of the city’s best jogging trails, picnic spots, and playgrounds, as well as several important cultural sites, including the De Young Museum, the California Academy of Sciences, and the San Francisco Botanical Garden. To the north, Mountain Lake Park is a lush gathering spot that provides easy access to the Presidio, a national park boasting family-friendly attractions and miles of ocean-skimming hiking trails. But the lure of the Inner Richmond doesn’t stop with its abundant natural resources.
For plentiful shopping, dining and nightlife, residents need only head to Clement Street, the bustling commercial strip running from Arguello Street to Park Presidio Boulevard. Clement, as well as nearby Geary Boulevard, is brimming with neighborhood bars, four-star restaurants, and retail establishments reflecting the area’s many cultural influences. On these blocks you’ll find an eatery to suit every palette-- from Korean BBQ joints and French bistros to Russian bakeries and hipster coffee houses and a store for your most obscure needs, from Chinese herbs and Israeli delicacies to Japanese action figures and Czech beer. After dark, the area lights up with a nighttime crowd drawn to the up-and-coming whiskey and wine bars, and veteran karaoke bars. This is a self-assured neighborhood in which you can be active during the day and most certainly kick back at night. ©2016 Maryann LoRusso
